So what does this prompt? Will it prompt us to become sober? Unlikely! Imagine, a world without drugs, and no religion too (to borrow a line from John Lennon). It might seem unthinkable to envisage a godless world, a sort of stoical Utopia of ennui; a world without magical spirits, immortals, devils, or divinities. We need magic and myth to hold us together; stories can enthral us, teach children about the world in small doses. It would be erroneous to have a world without childhood majestic fantasies of creation, scientific, religious, or otherwise.

Indeed, anyone arriving at his house, and even people he knew and once was friendly or loving towards, were now scrutinized for their part in the conspiracy led by the Onion Man.
